I appreciate the conflict. Amazon is my Achilles heel. I’ve done my best to rid myself of the habit ever since I read G.K. Chesterton’s Outline of Sanity. Yes, he saw the problem back in 1926. “I think the big shop is a bad shop…stopping the mere mad stampede towards monopoly, before the last traditions of property and liberty are lost”…” and “how to make a small shop or a small farm a common feature of our society.” I’ve been successful in several areas, but not Amazon. I go way back to when they only had books. I thought all the stuff they started selling was dumb at first, until I got lured in, as I’m more hunter/gatherer than shopper. I like your suggestion to wait a few days. And I’m also trying to schedule deliveries on an Amazon day, trying to teach myself to wait a little longer. Anyway, I recently picked up The Outline of Sanity again, since it's been about 10 years since I last read it. But I’ve felt so guilty about Amazon that I shelved it again.

I feel the same, but I am caught in the “I don’t want to drive one to three hours to go shopping for a few things that I can have delivered at home.” I do wish one of our local stores would start carrying supplements like berberine and L-theanine, and food like einkorn flour. Then most of my Amazon deliveries would come to a halt.

I do wish smaller stores had a better chance against the big conglomerates like Amazon. I also wonder what would happen if Amazon ceased to exist.
